GEVE Project : Emergency covid19 ventilator
Challenge
Quickly transforming a manual resuscitator into an automated device to meet the urgent needs of the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) during the 2020 health crisis.
Service
Angara Technology used its expertise in automated engineering to modify the manual resuscitator, accelerating the production of ventilators. Collaboration with HUG and HEPIA was essential.
Result
The manual resuscitator was successfully transformed into a potential long-term ventilation solution. The automation of the process quickly addressed the needs of HUG, strengthening healthcare facilities' capacity to cope with the crisis.
Open source GEVE Project
This project took place during COVID-19 at the end of 2020.
It is the result of a collaboration between ANGARA Technology and HES-SO HEPIA
The purpose was to create a ventilator setup that would be available in an emergency with no other options. It has been tested using an artificial lung and ran for several days without interruption showing that this could be a potential solution if no other alternatives were available.
Luckily it was not needed, but it was still great to see what can be achieved in only a short time when people team up to face a challenge.
The selection of the components was done considering that we should be able to create 50 systems within 2 weeks.
